1st Croatian Food Safety Risk Assessment Conference

6 – 7 October 2015
Faculty of Agriculture in Osijek (Kralja Petra Svačića street 1d)

Dear colleagues and participants,

It is our pleasure to invite you to the 1st Croatian Food Safety Risk Assessment Conference, which includes the celebration of World Food Day 2015, and will be held on 6th to 7th October 2015, in Osijek. The conference is organized by the Croatian Food Agency (HAH) and supported by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).

The main objective of the conference, with international participation, is presenting the latest achievements from the field of risk assessment, risk communication, nutrition and dietary habits, which will be ensured by reputable speakers from the profiled European institutions for risk assessment and our Agency.

As a national reference body for risk assessment in the field of food and feed safety in the past 10 years, with the great support of EFSA, BfR and other European institutions, we want to emphasize the importance of risk assessment, risk communication and all supporting subjects, in order to ensure food safety on national level and provide the safe border for EU.

By celebrating a World Food Day for sixth year in a row, we bring in the focus the most important issues and themes in order to highlight areas needed for action and provide a common focus. Since the three main FAO goals are: the eradication of hunger, food insecurity and malnutrition; the elimination of poverty and the driving forward of economic and social progress for all, it is of utmost importance to put it on national agenda, as well.

Our wish is that this conference becomes a place of exchange of knowledge, experiences and ideas, a platform for promoting scientific contact and agreement on future cooperation for representatives of the competent authorities, industry, consumer’s organizations, scientists and other stakeholders from Croatia and region. Also, our aspiration is to provide students with new information and knowledge in these areas, so they could easily become active participants in food safety system.

As good hosts, we will try to provide a warm welcome and pleasant atmosphere during the professional part, as well as during informal gatherings.

Andrea Gross-Bošković,
Director
