The Croatian Food Agency (HAH) celebrated its fifth anniversary under the auspices of the Croatian Prime Minister, on Thursday, 10 June 2010, in  'Osijek' Hotel  in Osijek.
The central event of the celebration was the Conference Ceremony "Food Safety Risk Analysis", with more than 130 participants, most of them professionals and scientists from both Croatia and abroad.
On this occasion, we were greatly honoured to have with us Executive Director of European Food Safety Authority, Catherine Geslain-Lanéelle, who pointed out in her welcome address: "Together, EFSA and the Croatian Food Agency have built a productive and effective relationship and we look forward to strengthening that cooperation with you going forward".

This year the Croatian Food Agency (HAH) is celebrating its 5 year anniversary.
In this context, under the sponsorship of Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia, Jadranka Kosor, in Osijek, 10 June 2010 - will be held „Food Safety Risk Analysis" Conference Ceremony.
The aim of this Conference is to provide a platform for an expert discussion on how to improve present risk management, risk assessment and risk communication approaches in order to build a strong and soundly-based food safety and consumer protection system in Croatia and in the Region.
Croatian Food Agency over the past five years, has managed to achieve excellent cooperation with the European Union institutions that care for food safety, which confirms the participation of Executive Director of EFSA (European Food Safety Authority),  Catherine Geslain-Lanéelle.

The Croatian Food Agency got the ISO 9001:2008 certificate in January 2009. This certificate proves that our quality management system is in line with the requests of this standard and harmonised with the legislation in force. Since this certificate is issued by an independent body, it demonstrates that the Agency has implemented necessary internal processes to comply with the obligations of this standard. It requires permanent improvement and development of our quality management system.

 ISO 9001:2008 is a general standard, internationally recognised. It is not a standard for some particular product; it is implemented in different production or services with aim to set up an international quality management system

Prof. Dr. Dr. Andreas Hensel, the director of the BfR (The Federal Institute for Risk Assessment from Germany) visited the HAH (Croatian Food Agency) on 4 March 2009. During this visit the two institutions signed the Contract on cooperation that regulates scientific cooperation, theoretical and practical education of Croatian employees working in food safety area, and training on risk communication.

The four day conference on microbial food safety took place in Netherlands,  with 120 microbiologists, epizoothiologists, veterinarians, doctors and food technologists, mostly coming from Europe and others from USA, Canada, Australia, New Zeeland, Japan and Hong Kong. The conference was organized by the Office for Risk Assessment of the Dutch Food and Consumer Products Safety Authority, with the support of The Netherlands National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM), University of Amsterdam (UvA), Wageningen University and Research Centre (WUR) and European Food Safety Authority (EFSA).

The 4th Central European Congress on Food and the 6th Croatian Congress of Food Technologists, Biotechnologists and Nutritionists took place in Cavtat from 15 May till 17 May 2008.
First CEFood congress was organized in 2002 in Ljubljana and since then it has been organized every 2nd year...

The European Food Safety Authority which is the European Union's scientific risk assessment body on food and feed safety, nutrition, animal welfare and plant protection and health is inviting scientific with high specialisation in a wide range of scientific and expert fields, such as food safety, nutrition, toxicology, chemistry and animal welfare to apply.
This will create a „pool“ of experts from which EFSA will select future working group members and other ad-hoc scientists who will support the work of EFSA's Scientific Committee and Panels. The expert database will also be available to all EU Member States.
